Larry Kaplan, Owner
larry@varsityfitness.com
A graduate of Central High School (247) and Temple
University, Larry earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the
University of Pennsylvania. Although Larry has had a renowned career as an
educator and youth director, he has decided to combine his love of both kids
and fitness with VARSITY FITNESS. Larry has held the distinguished CSCS
certification since 1999 and has been on the cutting edge of the fitness
industry since 1992 when he first began researching fitness and nutrition on
his own.
After suffering a serious spinal cord injury in 1992, doctors told Larry that he would never run or play sports again. Too stubborn to listen, Larry dedicated himself to proving the doctors wrong, and he embarked on a mission to build his body through science. Through intensive research and hard work, Larry developed his own training regimen which not only allowed him to run and play sports, but it led him to developing close associations with many of the leading fitness experts in the country.
Larry has worked with different populations of every age and fitness levels. He has been a consultant to numerous professional sports teams and individual athletes. Larry works with all different populations at VARSITY FITNESS depending on the needs of our clients. He encourages you to contact him to discuss what will work best for you and pledges to make sure you have a rewarding experience at VARSITY FITNESS.
Julie Victor, Personal Trainer
julie@varsityfitness.com
Julie A. Victor is a personal trainer who
is completely dedicated to recognizing her clients' specific needs. Julie
has the unique ability to not only address a client's weaknesses, but she
has the foresight to help them reach their maximum potential in all aspects
of their lives as well. During the inception of her career, Julie had come
to realize that the exerciser's fitness needs were being grossly neglected.
It was at this time that Julie made a commitment to establish a proper fitness
protocol that addressed the whole person and not just the major muscle groups
of the individual. With the creation of this philosophy, Julie has been endearingly
referred to as the "Human
Potential Extractor".
In 1993, Julie graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Kinesiology. She was an elite athlete at college, where she competed in track and field. Julie was honored as a Division I NCAA All-American her freshman year, for her outstanding accomplishments in the sport. Her diverse accomplishments in athletics range from being a National Champion in the sport of bare foot water skiing to playing a variety of sports throughout her high school and college career. She authored a book entitled Fit for Fastpitch in 1996, which provided a fitness regime for softball athletes. During this time, she also began training members of the USA Olympic Softball team.
In 1997, Julie decided to make the transition to college athletes. She accepted the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at Villanova University. Julie transcended her ability as a strength and conditioning professional to hundreds of athletes on 24 varsity teams including Brian Westbrook. Concurrently, Julie participated in the creation of the Health and Fitness Foundation, a personal training center. Julie was the vice president of the organization and was instrumental in its growth along the Main Line. Julie has also appeared on the popular MTV show, Made, which aims to make young teens dreams become reality.
